Canis lupus_M.AncelyDiscover the website of the French State on wolves in France. The Minister in charge of Agriculture and the secretary of State in charge of Ecology have developed jointly the “National Policy on Wolves 2008-2012, in the French context of an important and traditional breeding activity”, officially published at the end of 2008. It fits in line with the previous policy of the period 2004-2008 and defines for the four coming years the principles, the objectives and the means of the policy led by the French State concerning the wolf as part of the French commitments at the international level over the preservation of biodiversity. This policy hinges on four directions: the indemnification of damages and the support to breeders, the scientific follow-up of the species, the measures of a management on a case-by-case basis of the wolf population and communication, consultation and international cooperation on this file.

The main goal is to guarantee the protection of wolves on the French territory while restricting their impact on breeding, the dynamism and diversity of which form a specificity of our country.

The implementation of this plan happens, among others, through an effective and open policy of information and communication. It is in this context that the State website on wolves in France has been deeply melt down again and improved. It will strive to make correct and objective information available to internet users as soon as possible according to current events. Over time, its design and editorial contents can evolve depending on the strategy begun in the framework of this new wolf policy.
